ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Marisa
Hi, I’m Marisa Marinelli, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker providing individual therapy to teens and adults throughout New York and Connecticut.
I work with clients navigating anxiety, relationship challenges, substance use and addiction, trauma, depression, self-esteem concerns, and difficult life transitions. I understand that these experiences can affect many different areas of life, from the way you see yourself to the way you connect with others and manage everyday stress.
My goal is to provide a supportive, collaborative, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what you’re experiencing.
Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. I believe in taking the time to understand each person’s individual experiences, strengths, challenges, and goals. Together, we can identify patterns that may be keeping you stuck, develop healthier coping strategies, and work toward changes that feel meaningful and realistic for your life.
I have been in practice for seven years and currently provide therapy through telehealth, allowing clients to access support from a space where they feel comfortable.
Why I Became a Social Worker
I've always been drawn to helping others recognize the strengths they already have within themselves. I believe that even during difficult periods, people have the capacity to grow, heal and find new ways forward. Sometimes they simply need the right support and space to do so.
Becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker gave me the opportunity to turn that passion into meaningful work. I wanted to create a space where people could openly express themselves, better understand what they're experiencing and feel supported as they work through challenges and toward the goals that matter to them.
One of the most meaningful parts of my work is helping clients recognize their own abilities, build confidence and discover that change is possible.
Therapy tailored to you.
My approach is integrative and client-centered. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, therapy is shaped around your experiences, needs and goals.
I draw from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy and strengths-based therapy, along with DBT, interpersonal therapy, motivational interviewing and trauma-focused approaches when appropriate.
"My goal is to empower you to recognize your strengths, foster growth, and create meaningful change in your life."
